Album review: Brett Cash
This is a lovingly created slab of melody-driven pop decorated by the lushest of strings. It's Easier Without Her is typical of the cutely structured songs, Herb Alpert-style trumpets wafting over wistful lyrics. I Can't Love You Anymore Than I Do is an instrumental that recalls The Beatles' Ticket To Ride, while Just Like Today flirts with Bossa Nova.
It is relentlessly doe-eyed and just the wrong side of sugar-sweet, and you can't help but observe that Scotland's own Duglas Stewart and Davie Scott make a much better fist of this Beach Boys-derived stream of pop. Nice but slightly dim.
