Hide AdApple has issued a statement saying that the error message protects customers, but hundreds of users have reported that their iPhones have been ‘bricked’ - that is, broken beyond repair.

“iOS checks that the Touch ID sensor in your iPhone or iPad correctly matches your device’s other components.
“If there’s a mismatch, the check fails and Touch ID is disabled.
“This security measure is necessary to protect your device and prevent a fraudulent Touch ID sensor from being used.”
The California-based firm have encouraged anyone who has encountered an error 53 message to contact Apple Support.
