Don't miss out on a group grant
This year the Evening News and Comic Relief has teamed up for the first time to help allocate grants to the city's most deserving causes.
In a change to the traditional format, the appeal places special emphasis on grassroots organisations that make up the backbone of society.

Hide AdA total of 50,000 has been earmarked for Edinburgh community groups working tirelessly and on tight budgets to support often the most vulnerable. Local organisations are invited to apply online, where a panel of judges, including Evening News editor Tom Little, will determine the grant allocation. All bids will be judged on individual merit. Closing date is Thursday.
One of the community causes to apply this year is Clermiston and Drumbrae Children's Gala. Chairwoman Karen Keil said: "The gala is a great day for everyone because it brings the whole community together.
"It really is fantastic and can act as an adhesive for the community.
"If we were successful with our application we would use the money to put an extra event on, possibly a disco for the kids.
"Last year we applied for one or two grants but we are aware that funding from our normal sources, including the council, could be drying up."
Other examples of organisations eligible to apply for Red Nose Day Community Cash include parent and toddler groups, community festival bodies or youth clubs and pensioner groups. Groups seeking to apply should have had an income of less than 50,000 in the last year.
The money could be used for staff training, new equipment, wages or improvements, but cannot be used to fund trips abroad, buses or other community transport schemes or building costs, including access adaptations to buildings.
A Comic Relief spokesperson said: "There is still time and money up for grabs and we're encouraging all community organisations in Edinburgh city to get online and apply before March 10. We have 50,000 available to give away - so please don't miss this opportunity, time is running out!"
