Free shuttle service for homes hit by utility works

A FREE shuttle bus is to be provided for residents left cut off by ongoing gas works.

Locals in Moredun were unable to catch the Number 8 or 18 after the services were diverted to allow for mains renewal work by utility firm Scotia Gas Networks.

According to council officials, the work "overran considerably" and now major resurfacing works are taking place in Moredunvale Road.

The council said the removal of bus services had caused "significant problems" for local residents.

Now a shuttle bus, operated by E&M Horsburgh and paid for by the council, will operate every 15 minutes between 9am and 5pm. The service will operate from Craigour Place travelling in the direction of Craigour Drive via Gilmerton Road and will run until the resurfacing works are completed.
