Misread Celtic flag sparks EDL anti-Islam response
A banner made by Celtic fans at the Scottish Cup Final has caused a stir online after it was misread by some viewers, who took the internet to express their disgust after they mistook it for a pro-Islamic message in the wake of the Woolwich attack.
The banner was spotted as Celtic’s Emilio Izaguirre celebrated live on TV, prompting social media outlets to light up with messages from the far-right EDL asking why supporters would feature a Tricolour with the apparent message of “Islam CFC”.
However, the flag in question actually read “Achill Island CSC”, and had been hung by a group of Hoops fans from an island on the west coast of Ireland.
