NHS warned over gay lingo
A SENIOR NHS Lothian boss has warned about language used when promoting mental health services to the area's gay community.
The health board recently announced a strategy to make it easier for gay people to seek help for psychological conditions which could be linked to their lifestyle, such as depression from bullying or hate crimes.
Vice-chairman Eddie Egan said: "I had a concern about some of the language and how it could be read, as if just because you belong to a certain community you will have a mental health problem. We need to be careful."
