The Scotsman cartoon - EU entry post-independence
THIS WEEK saw a great deal of to-ing and fro-ing as European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso stated that it would be ‘difficult, if not impossible’ for an independent Scotland to join the European Union after independence.
His claims were rebuffed by former European Commission director general Jim Currie, who called Barroso’s comments ‘unwise and incorrect’.
And just yesterday, it was revealed that almost two-thirds of Scots would support an in-out referendum on EU membership post-independence, according to a poll.
