City leaders were blasted online over the botched re-tendering of care services which was branded a "whitewash".
I would say the person at the top has to take responsibility and resign. Authority without responsibility is all too prevalent in today's society.

Hide AdMy son, who is on the autistic spectrum, gets picked up daily by taxi and this includes a trained chaperone. In the 4 years he has been going to primary, the tender for the taxi has been put out 4 times meaning he's had a different taxi firm/drive/chaperone every year. So much for autistic kids needing "routine" in their life!

Even the most in need are a legitimate target for the council now, presumably as they are the least able to fight back and I thought the council had an anti-bullying policy as well!
Number 1
If there is a wrong way to do it, this council will find it.
Disgusted from Morningside
Dishonest Bunch with too many powers that go to their heads. Can't wait for council elections.

A 100-year-old time capsule has been unearthed by workers in the Capital . . .
That's the problem with time capsules; by the time they've been buried for a while, everyone who remembered they were there in the first place is dead. Interesting though.

Perhaps there should be a new council department called the keeper of time capsules.

Hospital work digs up history – can hardly dig up the future!

Hide AdIs it possible that the council could learn from what happened 100 years ago, well as the story goes not a lot has changed.
The Real Alfonsa Pedrosa,
I remember when the time capsule was buried, we were part of the squad that worked putting in the foundations, what I would like to know is what happened to the Gold sovereign that was in it?

Results of a test for council staff through a new "mystery shopper" project was sneered at online.
In other words 30 per cent of the time the mystery shoppers were dissatisfied with the service they got. This is appalling.

Would have been cheaper asking service-users (ie Edinburgh residents) of the council what they thought – would have been more honest with their views but then again, probably would have been too many responses for the council to handle.

Promotion of the Gaelic language across the Capital is to be scaled back because of a shortage of funding.
Why Gaelic? Gaelic is not and never has been the national language of Scotland. It is a minority language spoken by a minority of people the other side of the highland line.
Big Aggie
I've met a lot of people in my 60 years in Scotland, and have never yet met anyone who spoke Gaelic.
Grumpy
It is a culturally significant language in our nation's history, and its loss would be a terrible waste.
