Duncanson and Edwards: Iconic Edinburgh pawnbroker closes up shop after more than 180 years
Iconic Edinburgh pawnbroker Duncanson and Edwards has closed its doors after more than 180 years of serving the Capital.
On Tuesday 29 September, signs appeared on the shop which is located on Queen Street at the corner of Frederick Street advising of its closure.

Hide AdThe pawnbroker, which was Edinburgh's oldest and longest established, has now been acquired by Ramsdens Financial Limited.
Customers who had jewellery or loans held in Duncanson and Edwards have been advised that their items are at Ramsdens new store on Shandwick Place.
Last week, owners made the announcement on their Facebook page saying: “It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Duncanson and Edwards. We can assure all our loyal customers that their items are safe and secure, all customers pledges and retail paydown items will be transferred to their new home in Ramsdens brand new store on Shandwick Place.
"Best regards and thank you all for being our customers.”
