Labour slams ‘misery’ of bus grant cut
In a debate at the Scottish Parliament, transport spokeswoman Elaine Murray demanded the SNP reconsider changes made to the Bus Services Operators’ Grant, including a 17 per cent cut, which have been blamed for recent fare rises and service cuts.
She said: “The SNP seems oblivious to the fact its decisions are causing real misery in local communities across Scotland. Buses can be a lifeline for many in our communities, particularly for those on low incomes.

Transport Minister Keith Brown claimed soaring fuel costs – diesel prices up 57 per cent in the last five years – were the biggest factor in fare rises.
