Queen coins

The Royal Mint has released a line of Queen coins, celebrating the success of one of Britain’s most iconic bands.

The Royal Mint said in a statement: “Known for pushing the boundaries with their own unique style and continually reinventing their approach to music, Queen’s layered sound and flamboyant anthems continue to influence a new generation of musicians decades after they were formed.”

A video featuring Queen guitarist Brian May showcasing the coin can be viewed on The Royal Mint’s YouTube channel.

May opens the video by holding up the coin and saying: “This is a ‘who would’ve thought it?’ moment.”

Showing the coin to the camera, May states: “On the one side you have The Queen, and on the other side, you have Queen.”

Design

The coin commemorates all four members of Queen, referencing each of their contributions to the band with pictures of each member’s instrument.
