Robin van Persie ‘nearly joined Rangers for £3m’
The Dutchman said that the move would have gone through for him to join the Ibrox club from Feyernoord had his countryman Advocaat managed to sell one of his players to fund the move.

Hide AdHowever, the move eventually collapsed and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger signed the striker for Arsenal instead.
The Dutch star said: “I was still playing with Feyernoord and I wanted to go there [Rangers]. I spoke to Dick and he was interested. I was ready to go but they first needed to sell one player before they could buy me.”
He added that Advocaat “never told him who it was” that Rangers wanted to sell but that he was “ready to go” to Rangers as soon as they did.
