John and Sam lift trophies at golf classic

THE three-day Gents Classic at Girvan Golf Course produced some excellent sport last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Golfers from all over attended the event, including one competitor who had travelled from the Netherlands.
Turnberry member John Broadfoot collected the Carrick Herald Quaich with the best scratch score of 207 and winner of the Ailsa Trophy was Sam Oldman of Oadby with a nett score of 189.
There was also good showings from other locals including Alan Brownlee of Maybole, who finished runner-up for the Ailsa Trophy and Girvan's Gary Bryden who finished third behind John Broadfoot.
