Blackburn hoping to have the quality against Spartans

WEATHER permitting, Blackburn United are back in the Capital tomorrow but this time to play football instead of watching a game.

Last weekend the South Division side were represented at Easter Road, where the club was presented with the SFA Quality Mark Community Award ahead of Hibs' Scottish Cup clash with Ayr United. Former Hibs striker Keith Wright and Jim Fleeting, the SFA's Director of Football, did the honours, with youth coaches Davy Jones and Daryl Dunnigan picking up the award on behalf of Blackburn.

"The whole day was an experience Daryl and myself thoroughly enjoyed, although the cup tie wasn't the best game I have seen this season," said Jones. The award marks the club's good practice and hard work in raising the standards of player and coaching development, along with the management and administration required to develop a sense of community.

"This is a fitting reward for all the hard work done by so many at the club and will hopefully see United reap the benefits of good practice in the future," said Blackurn coaching co-ordinator Brian Smillie. Tomorrow, Blackburn are scheduled to visit Spartans on league business.

n WITH their tie at Glenrothes having already been postponed, Tranent have fixed up a South Division game at Forrester Park (1.45pm) against Stoneyburn, who were due to entertain Musselburgh in the Cup.
