Form
St Johnstone: DWLWWWDWWL (6th)
Rangers: DWWWDLDWWW (1st)
St Johnstone scored only their ninth home goal of the season when Liam Craig netted against Rangers on Wednesday evening – the Glasgow side’s 12th concession of the league campaign.
The draw also ensured the Saints would not suffer a clean sweep from the champions, who had won all previous meetings this season, keeping clean sheets until the 93rd minute spot-kick.
Team news
Steven Gerrard made seven changes midweek and could make just as many again for the Scottish Cup which is now his priority for the remainder of the campaign.
James Tavernier returned to the starting line-up in Perth and is likely to feature again having avoided injury on his return. Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey featured off the bench but are now banned after their appeal against a six-match suspension was dismissed and the punishments kicked in. The same applies to midfielder Bongani Zungu.
For the hosts, Murray Davidson remains out after limping off against Rangers back in February.
Previous Meetings
It’s easy to remember as the sides met just four days ago in a 1-1 draw but Rangers have also defeated the Perth Saints 3-0 in two meetings this season – with Joe Aribo impressive in both encounters.
