After an initial period where deals were being done there has been somewhat of a lull. But with a week and a half remaining there is every chance it could start to get busier once more. Clubs will have looked at how off-field issues, namely the pandemic, will impact them.
There’s no question the lack of fans and the uncertainty as to when they will be back in grounds has forced clubs to rethink or reassess.
The latest transfer talk and news from around the SPFL:
1. No Rangers interest in Davies
Rangers are not in the running for Preston defender Ben Davies. The Ibrox side had been linked with a pre-contract move for the player who has reportedly turned down a £17k-a-week offer to stay at Preston. A number of clubs are said to be interested, including Celtic, but as for Rangers any interest won’t be being pursued. (PA) Photo: Alex Livesey
2. Lennon remains steadfast
Neil Lennon has declared that he won’t walk away from the Celtic job despite increasing pressure. Following a much-talked about press conference on Monday, the Northern Irishman saw his charges drop more points, drawing 2-2 with a much-changed Livingston side. He said: “I won’t walk away, absolutely. A month ago we won the Treble. If the club need to make a decision, they make a decision. You’re asking the wrong guy and I’m fed up answering it.” (Various) Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group
3. Hearts striker hunt
Walsall have turned down an approach from Hearts for striker Elijah Adebayo. Robbie Neilson is keen to add a target man to his side and the 23-year-old is a prime target. The League Two side’s top scorer, Adebayo is seen by Walsall as key in their hunt for promotion. (Express & Star) Photo: Pete Norton
4. Robert not on Rangers list
Airdrieonians star Thomas Robert has been linked with a host of clubs, including Rangers, Celtic, Hearts and Hibs. However, the Ibrox side have excused themselves from the race. The Frenchman is not seen as a target for Steven Gerrard. (PA) Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
