Golf: Blair and Bankier still in mix

EDINBURGH-BORN Robert Blair and Glasgow's Imogen Bankier continued a great run in the mixed doubles when they battled through to the semi-finals at the Yonex German Open in Mulheim van der Ruhr.

The former Bank of Scotland International Champions missed most of last season when Bankier was sidelined by a serious knee injury, but they showed the form that took them to the world's top ten by beating Russia's Alexandr Nikolaenko and Valeria Sorkina 21-11, 18-21, 21-16.

Now ranked No.72, Blair, an ex-Scotland international who now represents England, and Bankier will now face the Chinese No.4 seeds, Jiaming Tao and Yawen Zhang, for a place in the final.

Next week, they will be among Scotland's leading hopes at the Yonex All-England Open staged at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.
