Racings tips: A Top Notch runner at Kelso
A neck second to stablemate Peace And Co in last year’s Triumph Hurdle, he faces just three rivals in the £25,000 feature race at the Borders track.
Henderson, who has saddled six winners from just nine runners in the past five seasons at Kelso, said: “It’s a nice race for him and we’ve had runners in it before – Simonsig won it four years ago.”

Hide AdDavid Pipe-trained Grand National entry Soll also takes on four opponents in the Ivan Straker Chase. “I’ve fond memories of Kelso as I had my first winner as a trainer there in 2006,” Somerset-based Pipe said. Tom Scudamore, who partners Soll, reached a milestone at Musselburgh yesterday when he rode his 1,000th career winner on Impulsive American in the racinguk.com/anywhere Maiden Hurdle.
Scudamore, whose former champion jockey father Peter rode 1,638 winners, said: “They were keeping track of my winners down at David Pipe’s so I knew I was just one short. In all I’ve had 990 over jumps and ten on the Flat so it would be nice to get to the 1,000 jumping now.”
Soll’s most likely rival is Corrin Wood who, despite his lack of recent good form, may be worth a small wager.
