Rangers chief sure there'll be no repeat of Manchester hooliganism
The Light Blues were drawn together in Group C with United, Spanish side Valencia and Turkey's Bursaspor at yesterday's draw in Monaco. There was no fan trouble when the Red Devils hosted Rangers at the same stage in 2003-04 with Sir Alex Ferguson's side winning 3-0 at home, following a 1-0 win at Ibrox. However, a minority of the Gers fans who travelled to Manchester two years ago for the UEFA Cup final against Zenit St Petersburg, which the Govan side lost 2-0, infamously clashed with police during and after the game.
Bain said: "I would say the circumstances (in 2008] were totally different. The true Rangers supporters did not like those scenes and I am absolutely convinced they will go down to Manchester to prove a point that they are a great set of supporters. We have the right security people to make sure that things go accordingly."
