Rookie Jamieson secures berth in Seve Trophy side

EUROPEAN Tour rookie Scott Jamieson is set to join forces with world No 2 Lee Westwood and Open champion Darren Clarke after securing the last spot in the Britain and Ireland side for next week’s Vivendi Seve Trophy in Paris.

“I had known for a while I was quite close to making selection and got an email last week asking for clothes sizes, but then was told that nothing was final until today,” said Jamieson, who has chalked up three top-3 finishes this year to lie 38th in the Race to Dubai. Ian Poulter, Ross Fisher, Robert Rock, Simon Dyson, Jamie Donaldson, David Horsey and Mark Foster complete Paul McGinley’s side while Thomas Bjorn heads a Europe team that also includes Matteo Manassero.

“It’s going to be a great opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the stronger guys in the team like Westwood, Clarke and Poulter,” added Jamieson. “There’s a lot of experience in the GB & I side and it’s going to look great on the CV. Also, there’s a lot of guys who play the Vivendi and then move on to being picked in a Ryder Cup team.”
